Earth Day FEASTival 2009: A small start with big potential

Yesterday we debuted our goods in Gilbert at Arizona State University's polytechnic campus, putting up a tent for the inaugural Earth Day FEASTival. The well-organized though modestly attended gathering brought together environmentally-sensitive vendors, many of whom were food-related (thus, putting the 'feast' in feastival).  The event, though fairly humble, went really well, and showed great promise for the future.

Though we weren't able to sell anything (it was an expo this year, though next year it will be a marketplace), simply attending proved to be a useful endeavor for us, stoking the fire we have for our business. Furthermore, the feedback we received from attendees was encouraging, and our interactions with those who visited our booth provided welcome opportunities for finessing how we communicate who we are and what it is we do.

In addition to those worthy takeaways, we learned about a few other great businesses making their way in their own eco-minded niches. Check 'em out.

Go Go Natural: This online storefront specializes in natural products for moms and wee ones, carrying a myriad of goods such as super-stylish cloth diapers (photo shown) and hooter hiders (tee hee). Check out the sweet, earthy offerings at www.gogonatural.com.

udderdelights: As temperatures soar, I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream cakes, ice cream shakes and ice cream cones. This Gilbert, Ariz. outpost serves up local, fresh and gourmet treats for those seeking to sate their sweet tooth with something summer-appropriate. Learn more at www.udderdelightsaz.com.

Green Safe: This Michigan-based company sells corn-based plastic-like goods such as food/take-out containers and silverware. The products are particularly apropos for restaurants and caterers that require disposable supplies yet desire to lessen their impact. Get the low-down at www.michigangreensafeproducts.com.
