Sometimes your best designer accessories are things don't put on - namely your heart and your attitude.
Today while at church, I was - as usual - marveling at this older gentleman, Roger, who was seated in the pew ahead of me. In terms of dress, Roger isn't what you'd call a fashion plate. His ensembles tend toward the quirky: chunky basketball shoes, back wind-pants (a la Ben Affleck in "Good Will Hunting") and a really nice, tucked-in button-up oxford in an agreeable hue.
That being said, there is something about Roger that makes you stop, stare and say "wow" - and it isn't the outfit.
Roger's heart and attitude make him a showstopper. He shines, and his light has been catching my eye at church for the last year. He is happy to be, to have a faith community, to relish his life's blessings and to share life's moments with others. He warmly greets those around him during the welcome portion of the service; he sings and sways to the beats of the jazz band; and he oozes gratitude. These are things about Roger that are deeply powerful, incredibly inspiring and always in style.
Now, I'm not saying that design and style don't matter (that'd be silly given what Ecosaurus does). They do matter in varying degrees to various people, and that's OK. The point of mentioning Roger is to show how someone's heart and attitude can overshadow his outfit. If something or someone lacks a warm heart and a good attitude, no design or level of stylishness can make them agreeable. By contrast, a big heart and a wonderful attitude cause whatever or whomever to be captivating. Just something to consider as you create and share with the world. ~ A.F.
